Our Purpose

Preservation of rural lands is critical in America where each year nearly one million acres of healthy and productive farmland is lost. In Utah, family-owned and operated farms and ranches raise livestock and grow a variety of crops and fruit that all Utahan’s enjoy. Conservation of Utah’s private agricultural lands permanently protects this land for productive use and for its conservation value. What are these conservation values? They include productive farming, wildlife protection, historic and cultural value, scenic vistas and open spaces enjoyed by the public. Outdoor and recreational values are also important components of conservation. Private landowners choose to conserve their agricultural land for a variety of reasons. Our role, as a land trust, is to provide conservation options and help the landowner determine if conservation is the right approach for their family.
